Happy Veterans Day!

Posted: 08:07 AM ET

Morning sunshine!

Robin here.

Veterans thank you for your service. Whether you serve now - or served decades ago - thank you for defending our freedoms. Thank you!

Each day on the show, we air a Salute to Troops. Today, in honor of Veterans Day, we're playing more Salutes than usual. And at 10:30 am ET, I’m hosting a special 30-minute feature called “Veterans in Focus.” The special shares the stories of our veterans, through the lens of our photojournalists. For a closer look, check out the “Veterans in Focus” box on our website, cnn.com/Robin.

Last week, I performed my song “Welcome Home” at the Grand Ole Opry. The song is dedicated to the men and women serving in the military and their families. It talks about the special moment when families are reunited with their warriors.

Do you have a loved one in the military who recently returned home from deployment?

If so, send us pictures and video from your reunion.   They could be featured on our show during the holidays!

Vets, again…thank you for defending our freedoms.

-Robin

Who is the sunshine in "Morning Sunshine?"

Posted: 08:34 AM ET

A huge "Thanks" to all of you who have clicked the "like" button on the "Morning Express with Robin Meade" Facebook page.

Now, if you were up REALLY early facebooking with us today, you MAY have seen this exchange between two of your fellow viewers:

Patricia E.
Robin, you make my day better when you say, "good morning sunshine!" Thanks for that!

Bernice M.
Do you know if she is addressing someone in particular? I have often wondered. I like Robin.

Well Bernice, here's Robin with the answer:

I say "morning sunshine" to you the viewer. All viewers. Its something I've always said. I got it from my father who used to bellow, "morning sunshine" when we were kids trying to wake us up for school. "Morning sunshine," one time, and if you didn’t get up after that, he’d rip off the covers and the brisk Ohio air would get your hiney moving and getting ready for school. So for me, that’s the origin of the greeting "morning sunshine," but it's directed toward all viewers.

Do you guys remember the Morning Sunshine Challenge? To celebrate the release of Robin's book, "Morning Sunshine: How to Radiate Confidence and Feel it Too," we hosted a contest asking people to share their confidence-building tips.

Well, the winner, Lindsay S, will be on the set today! Check out her live interview with Robin at 9.30 am. She's absolutely adorable, you wont want to miss it!

We kicked off the challenge with Robin asking viewers "What is the biggest obstacle you have faced (or overcome) on your road to self confidence?"

iReporter Lindsay Sprick touched our heart with her answer.

Lindsay says that she grew up fast when she was diagnosed with an auto-immune skin disease at age 11 that left 80% of her skin looking dry and cracked like a desert.

She faced a lot of ridicule from her school classmates, but says that she learned to smile in the face of pain, and to keep up her confidence.

Lindsay said, "You can’t let people make you feel bad for things you can’t control. Be proud of who you are and who you want to be! Love yourself and you’ll see that happiness is just around the corner."

Thanks again, Lindsay!

Morning Sunshine! And hello from the baby contingent

Posted: 06:55 AM ET

TV/Web Producer Kate Taylor

Everyone knows that babies keep odd hours. They're often inspired to wake up – and stay up – at the darndest times, they love to pack in those midnight snacks and subsequent burpings and diaper changes, and heck, sometimes they just want to hang out with mom and dad, leaving the parents feeling like they've accomplished a full day's works before the morning sun has even kissed the sky.

Little Gabriel Dolan wakes up bright and early to catch Morning Express.

So it was no surprise when both of this week's Morning Sunshine iReports came from parents of infants, who watch the show in the wee hours of the morning, probably hoping to fall back asleep as everyone else wakes up.

Viewer and iReporter Marian Dolan was nice enough to share photos of her 2-day-old son, Gabriel! Mom and Gabriel watched Morning Express together in the hospital during Gabe's morning feedings at Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. We're happy to report that Mom and son are doing well and have returned home.

Traci DeSpain of Lanesville, Indiana, shared photos of her four-and-a-half month-old daughter Emma Rose watching Morning Express. DeSpain reports that Emma Rose has caught the show so many times that now she recognizes Robin's voice, and lifts her head up for a view when she hears Robin start to talk.

Do you make it a point to watch Morning Express as often as possible? We'd love to see where you are and what you do while you watch. Share your Morning Sunshine iReport!

iReporter Jeremy Buzan says watching Robin helps wake him up to start his morning workout routine.

Ever wonder what rock climbers do in the morning? They watch Morning Express of course! Oh, and they work out.

Morning Sunshine iReporter Jeremy Buzan of Salem, Oregon, and his wife, Leisel Jeck, are the founders of the Summits for Kids Organization. They take children on mountain climbing trips and they also use climbing trips as campaigns to raise money for children's causes.

Jeremy says that he starts his day lifting weights and watching Morning Express. He says, "Robin is as important to us as coffee!"

Thanks to Jeremy for his iReport, and we’d love to see yours too. Tell us what you do while you watch Morning Express.

Morning Sunshine! From your home to our studio

Posted: 01:25 PM ET

TV-Web Producer Kate

This week we launched our Morning Sunshine iReport project, and asked viewers to send photos and video of themselves, showing us what they do while they watch "Morning Express."

We’ve gotten a great response so far. From hot tubs, to kittens, to daycare, you showed us that we have viewers of all ages and even species!

Little Alice Rose catches "Morning Express" every morning when she has her bottle.

Check out this little cutie! Scot Howell tells us that he and his daughter Alice Rose watch "Morning Express" together every morning while Alice Rose has her bottle. Alice Rose is a year and a half old and, judging by that smile, she thinks watching Robin is a great way to wake up.

When Jeff and Melissa Fish submitted their iReport, they explained, "I would like to introduce you to what must be your tiniest fans. Our mother cat disappeared when the kittens were only three days old and every morning as 'Morning Express' is on, we have feeding time with tiny baby bottles in front of the TV. They must know your voice as well as they do ours." Aww, best of luck to the Fishs and their kittens.

Bob Harley has an interesting morning routine. He catches "Morning Express" from the comfort of his hot tub! Looks nice, doesn’t it? Harley says, "It's a great way to start each day, first with Robin and then watching the sun rise. It just doesn't get any better."

Connie Clark says the children at her daycare center love watching Robin deliver the day’s news.

Connie Clark runs a daycare in Mansfield, Illinois, out of her home. The children start arriving at 5:15 in the morning. Clark has turned them all into "Morning Express" fans! The little ones stay up on their news every day, and Clark says that when she doesn’t have "Morning Express" on the kids all ask "Where's Robin?" Hmm, maybe one of them is a Headline News anchor in the making?

Glen Fisher of Boca Raton, Florida, sent a video of himself explaining his morning routine. He says, "I just love watching you all. It's clear you all adore one another and you all have a terrific sense of humor." Fisher asks that we ignore his "messy bedroom." Will do, Glen, and thanks for the video!

Thanks to everyone who has sent their Morning Sunshine iReports. Tune into "Morning Express" to see if we show yours, or go to iReport.com and tell us what you do while you watch the show.
