April 29, 2009 A new kind of salutePosted: 06:14 AM ET
Yesterday, we aired an emotional salute from a mother to her daughter. Watch the video below for Nikki Turner's moving salute to her daughter Ashley Regan. Read Nikki's words to her daughter below. "As any other mother who has children serving our country overseas, we tend to worry and wait in anticipation for a phone call, or any type of communication so I can say “Hello Honey” and at least know they are all right for that moment. Unfortunately, a phone call is a difficult thing for us. Her stepfather and I are both deaf. We do hear some with the amazing Cochlear Implant, however, when Ashley does get that rare opportunity to call ... my not-so-great hearing gets in the way and I can't understand her well enough to carry on a conversation and connect. I know this saddens her greatly! She was 14 years old when I lost my hearing and she was such an inspiration to me during a very difficult time in my own life. Today she is an individual who inspires every person who crosses her path; both comrades and patients alike. Ashley has this beautiful smile and personality that just lights up any room. What better way to honor her than to “shout out” on Salute the Troops … WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU ASHLEY AND CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR YOUR VOICE AGAIN IN PERSON. IN THE MEANTIME ... BE GOOD AND DO GOOD. STAY SAFE, WE LOVE AND MISS YOU DEARLY!" - Mom, Mark, Lily and the entire family. God Bless all our troops! Anthony Rios has turned Morning Express into his evening news show. In our ongoing Morning Sunshine segment, we invite viewers to tell us what they do while they watch "Morning Express," through CNN's citizen journalism Web site, iReport.com. We've had some really great contributions so far. Below, meet our newest Morning Sunshine iReporters. iReporter Anthony Rios of Modesto, California, says that watching Morning Express is not so much a morning routine for him as it is a "late night routine." Rios gets off work at midnight and hangs out until the show comes on at 3 am. He watches Morning Express for an hour or so and then hits the hay. In his adorable video iReport, Rios says, "Sometimes I think about moving out to Hawaii, mainly so I can watch you at one am and get a decent amount of sleep." He concludes, "Love your show, watch you every morning. Evening. Whatever."
Little Ava Branca is already a big fan of Robin and Morning Express. It’s okay, Anthony, you can watch the show whenever you want! And take a look at this cutie! Lindsey Branca of Smithfield, Rhode Island, says her daughter Ava, who is seven months old, likes to watch Morning Express when she wakes up. Hill says, "Watch how cute she is when she sees Robin. She loves her!! Once she sees Robin she starts to bounce in her bouncy chair … so cute." We think so too. Is Morning Express part of your daily routine? Share it with us, and you may appear on Morning Express. Posted by: iReport, Morning Sunshine July 28, 2008 Morning Sunshine! (iReport style)Posted: 05:58 AM ET
