Heidi the Cross-eyed Opossum

Posted: 05:17 AM ET

A CROSS-EYED OPOSSUM named Heidi probably has more facebook friends than you do, more than more than 109 thousand!

Heidi has become famous in Germany where she lives at the Leipzig Zoo. Along with her impressive facebook fan numbers, she's also inspired a very bizarre YouTube video that's tallies up thousands of views:

Her life has also inspired a fake movie... which of course has a fake movie trailer:

"Heidi" was abandoned at North Carolina animal shelter before moving to Germany. Click here if you'd like to be her latest facebook fan!

SQUEEE! 8) But how did she go from NC to Germany???

Another example of man's insane need to manipulate the inhabitants of the world for his own selfish entertainment. To send her "home" now would be her death. Pathetic!

I usually think Opossums are nasty looking when I see them in my backyard, but something about those cross eyes make her look not as evil.

That song does go on a bit....whether you understand it or not! Oppossums are nice animals actually, as they go, they will hiss at you if cornered, but don't carry rabies. They just happen to look like giant rats.

Think we would have moved past the "freaky animal" and "animal oddity" by now (went out with the circus!). Perhaps some great vet would try to help this poor creature see the world as it should be seen!
