Bob does Vegas – 2 weeks to go!

Posted: 07:50 AM ET

Meteorologist Bob Van Dillen

Hey guys, It’s Bob. Ahh yeah, Las Vegas in 2 weeks!

I’m flying out to run the Las Vegas Rock n’ Roll half marathon on Dec 6. I’m the honorary chairman for the Crohn’s and Colitis foundation of America, and they are the main charity for the event.

I even get to MC the event at the MGM the night before the race. Yeah, I’m playing Vegas, baby. Like Don Rickles. Sort of.

Anybody else in training for a race? It isn’t easy running in the cold and rain, in fact it is miserable. Especially since I’m not the thinnest kid on the block.

Bob, I so wish I could see you there. I'll be leaving on the 3rd. I would've gotten myself a front row ticket to your show! Good luck and have a blast! Mindfreak.

Joyce Hagley   November 20th, 2009 1:25 pm ET

Good luck, Bob. My aunt and sister-in-law suffer from Chron's disease. Thank you.

David Yetter   November 20th, 2009 1:28 pm ET

Best wishes, Bob, for the upcoming marathon.

I'm originally from Binghamton, NY, now living in the Jackson, MS area for over 22 years. I believe you served as the weather forecaster in the Utica and Syracuse, NY areas. So you know my home region.

Your weather forecasting on CNN-Headline News is AWESOME!

THANKS for your GREAT work!

David Yetter

Robin, it's a pleasure to wake up to you on weekdays. You make my day. Thank you for that gorgeous smile.

Lisa Dawn Bennett   November 21st, 2009 12:20 am ET

Robin words cannot say how proud I am of you. You are a very talented person and you have the ability to share with people who are handicapped that there is hope in one way or the other. May God Keep Blessing You and I intend to get your new book as soon as possible. Keep up the good work. You will find that helping others will alleviate some of your own inner conflicts. You are my hero. Thanks so much.

Robin, we are still buzzing about your interview which you had with Mr. Stephen King recently !! You managed to sneak in a few "What Is the Real Stephen King Like ? "-type questions; he obliged and answered them very honestly and truthfully !! Great job !! Also, Robin, you were a vision of beauty last week, along with the gorgeous fall-colored wardrobe you chose to wear !!! Now to our guy Bobby: we can't believe the Vegas race is already coming up in two weeks–time seems to run right past us ! We know that you will bring the house down when you emcee the banquet dinner at the MGM hotel ! Watch out . . . Elvis may be back in the house !! We know how much the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America means to you, and how important the cause is for so many individuals afflicted with this little-known and little-discussed disease ! If more people were as generous with their time like you, Bobby, the world would be a better place for all !!! Good Luck to you and all the participants on December 6th . . . we just know that it will be a huge success !! Remember, Bobby, don't eat too much turkey, turkey on Thanksgiving Day because you won't be able to gobble, gobble all the way to the finish line !! (LOL !! ) We would like to take this time to wish you (Bobby), Ally, and family–as well as our girl Robin and Mr. Tim, Jenn, Natasha (baby ? ), Rafer (baby ? ), Richard, and Larry–a very, very Happy Thanksgiving to all and your families !! You-all are like family to us on "Morning Express" !!! Move over, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox News, etc.–there's a hot team on HLN in the mornings !! Happy Thanksgiving !!! Robin, remember we love Ya, our Ohio girl !! Robin's Follies. P.S.: On a Thanksgiving-related story which Robin had featured: we are so happy that the wandering turkey named "Tammy" (who was on the New Jersey turnpike) was relocated . . . and is living happily-ever-after at a nearby zoo !!!

Robin is probally cracking up over this blog–but I am serious When you are in front of the camera doing the news you are cute BOBBY!!!

I think we hold people to different standards in Americia. How was it okay for Adam Lambert to kiss another man on live tv and we wanted to crucify Janet Jackson for her super bowl perfomence when her breast was acciadentialy showen. Because Americia was so offended by seeing her breast, her career has not been the same. I think seeing a man kiss another man was much more offensive then seeing Janets breast. Where are all the moral majority now and will he be called before congress. Or is okay to go after a black preformer and we fear offending a gay person.Or is it that he is gay and white.

MAMOGRAMS are proven to prevent CANCER GETTING A HEADSTART just as PSA TESTING SAVED MY LIFE SOME 15 YEARS AGO and whoever says different is getting money from THE CROOKED INSURANCE INDUSTRY!! I new from the beganing that it smelled ranchy, and now they are claiming they can not change it,how stupid do they think THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE?? if this is what they call a health care bill we all need to jump on our motorcycles and whatever and MARCH ON WASHINGTON AND DEMONSTRATE TO OUR WHACKY GOVERNMENT!!!!!~!

Jeff   November 27th, 2009 11:48 am ET

Good luck at the race Bob!! It's a great charity and you'll have to post your race time and some pics!!

Bob I did the vegas marathon 2 years ago and loved it. it is a fantastic route, weather is perfect time of year, and the thrill of running the strip is awesome! The only thing is the buildings make it look like things are closer than they are so you think man, all I gotta do is go to there and I'm done! But the buildings never get any bigger! Anyway, big fan of yours in the morning (and of all the morning show there!) so I wish you the best and wish I was out there joining ya! Plus its vegas, baby – lots of fun to be had, great food, shows etc! Good luck man!

Jean Janes   December 2nd, 2009 9:16 am ET

Bob:

As a recent runner, though sick last year, glad you are doing this. I'm 73, but most happy with winning the Air Force1/2 Marathon in 2007. Will cheer for you. Please congratulate the over 70 runners, as it will encourage seniors to run.

Thanks,
Bobbie

Today's (Dec. 10th, 2009) Crazy Weather . . .

Did you know . . .

In Hamilton Ontario Canada we have ZERO SNOW . . . today December 10 th – either on the ground or in the air.

Were you aware . . .

Hamilton (500,000 people – Home of the Hamilton Tiger Cats (Canadain Football league)) is on the extreme western end of Lake Ontario . . . about 1 hr south of Toronto.

While we have the crazy winds we are insulated form the 'lake effect' snow . . . as the winds pass over the Lakes Erie and Ontario away from Hamilton.

Please note; that the stimulus package;also involves long term re-structuring of the economy;; Including the new automobile industry;;The Electric cars are here to stay;please let the people know. Fisker automotive, 500 million, Tesla Motors 450 million, Coda automotive,;; Plus ;;the battery company's, engineering ,company's, the copper Industry,;;;all this new technology; Do we have the people to fill these jobs? The U S has fallen behind in training and restructuring ; thanks to the greedy oil and gas moguls. Yes , we need change , and President Obama is doing all he can to make these changes;; are we ready for it?

Paula Carson   January 27th, 2010 12:18 pm ET

Bob:
The state that has a funny shape and is south of PA, east of Ohio, and north and west of Virginia is WEST VIRGINIA. Several times I have seen you bring your hand down across PA, over WEST VIRGINIA, and down into Virginia telling about a storm in the Appalachian Mountains. You say PA and VA but the state inbetween never gets mentioned. It is a beautiful state. Come and stay at the Greenbrier Resort for a couple of days and I promise you, you will never forget WEST VIRGINIA again!
I watch Robin & Co. every morning and I really like you giving the weather. Just wanted to give you a geography lesson today!
Paula Carson

William Chelsey   January 28th, 2010 9:30 am ET

My take on Mr Obama's speech.... Same old stuff presented in a "new box". Once unwrapped we will see NO change!

Joe DeFeo   February 5th, 2010 10:16 am ET

Dear Robin:

Toyota as a company is the benchmark for providing quality automobiles that drive customer loyalty year after year. They have become the best because of their efforts to always focus on the customer first, earnings second. A world class leader like Toyota reacts as it should when there is a problem. They disclose it. They deal with it. They fix it and they get better. Anyone that doubts Toyota’s ability to recover from this does not understand what a quality leader is or does. While everyone can attack Toyota for a recall like this one consider this. A world class quality leader has an obligation to satisfy the customers at any cost to protect that customer. We here at Juran applaud Toyota for alerting their customers and potential customers that there is a problem. It will disrupt them. It will cost them. But it will not stop them from being the best. It will only make them better. This is the culture of a customer focused, high quality organization. We should all learn from them.

Dear Mr. Akio Toyoda, we are here to help if you need us.

Sincerely,
Joe DeFeo
President Juran Institute
