Quarterbacks – Simply irresistable?

Posted: 10:25 AM ET

Sports Anchor Rafer Weigel

I thought it was just me. It always seemed that quarterbacks were the best looking dudes. It’s not something a guy likes to discuss. Maybe it was just sour grapes since they always seemed to get all the women where I went to school? Or maybe the sour grapes stem from the starting QB at my high school giving me a wedgie when I was a nerdy freshman (I haven’t forgotten Gave Val Class of ’85!)

A football player with looks on par with a supermodel? He's a quarterback, that explains it.
A football player with looks on par with a supermodel? He's a quarterback, that explains it.

It turns out, I’m not crazy. Bitter and jealous? Perhaps. But not crazy. A new study printed in the Wall Street Journal actually looked into this and, get this, measured the faces of every starting quarterback in the NFL. It found that every quarterback had a more symmetrical face than your average person.

So what does that mean? Symmetry apparently is linked to good looks and is believed to be co-relative to how successful you are. The average person’s face is about 90% symmetrical. Every starting QB in the NFL has a face that is at least 96% symmetrical. In other words, if you’re a pretty boy, you can start at QB in the NFL. (This would be a good time to refer you to Mark Sanchez’ GQ spread).

The list has Falcons QB Matt Ryan at the top, followed by Brett Favre, and his replacement in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, third. The curious part is New England’s Tom Brady is at number 8 and Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is ahead of him at number six. Now, I don’t have a man crush on Tom Brady. But there’s a reason he’s married to Giselle. Big Ben is a great quarterback, but he is not a pretty dude. Again, this is a topic I’m not the most comfortable talking about. But let’s just be real for a second.

So, does symmetry mean you’re good-looking? Apparently not. But it apparently will help you obtain the most glamorous job in the world—an NFL quarterback.

Some guys have all the luck.

Robin, you were a loving, picture-perfect Hallmark greeting card in your brightly-colored orange dress on "Morning Express" !!! Yes, Rafer, the saying that quarterbacks rule and always attract the foxy ladies is so true . . . the other team members should just hang it up in the locker room !!! The quarterback is portrayed as the hero in all the movies, sitcoms–and even on "The Disney Channel" episodes !!! Go figure !!! News Orleans is fascinated with the local-boys-done-good story: the Mannings (Peyton and Eli) and their Indianapolis and New York teams !!! The local sportscasters cannot wait to analyze their playing games–whether good or bad !!! But, hold on, as it seems that New Orleans Saints Running Back Reggie Bush is gaining much ground with his popularity over the Mannings !!! Could it be his complicated, on-off romance with the
vivacious Kim Kardashian that has the whole town abuzz !!! Just a personal story to share with you, Rafer, and everyone: I (Mom Kathryn) was in the "4141" club-restaurant on St. Charles Avenue back in the seventies (whoa, that's many moons ago); suddenly, I spotted New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath sitting at the bar with his friends !!! Yes, it was "Broadway Joe" right there before me and–being the gutsy Polish girl I am–I approached him and said "Hi, Joe !!! " He turned around and said, "How you doing, baby ? ", and gave me a sweet kiss on the cheek and a warm hug; then, he thanked me for coming over to see him !!! My friends could not believe it . . . I blew their minds by going up to him !!! What a nice memory for me !!! No, they don't make quarterbacks like they used to (or even legendary baseball players)–and they never will !!! Robin: hope you, Jenn, Natasha, Rafer, Bobby, and Richard have a safe and special Labor Day weekend !!! Just remember that we love ya, Ohio girl . . . Robin's Follies !!!

Hey Rafer Richard lew here, Bet your glad that your not playing football, The Shaking hands thing would be a good idea for peewee football, but as you can see, These kids or young men are put in the mood TO WIN a game and to fight fight fight, that is all they know to do. Maybe a nod to the other players, but to get in their face and have to shake their hands, NOPE that isn't going to get it, as seen Where two teams shook hands before the game then a punch in the face after the game...Great sportsmen ship, I feel that that player should be suspended form his college and any and all scholarships be taken from him... THAT was truly uncalled for.. But that is just my thoughts, The NCAA Has to do better then the shaking of hands before the game, like I said this isn't peewee football
