September 23, 2009 He has never complainedPosted: 12:26 PM ET
![]() Klay, Konnor and Kylie Abele. My husband Klay Matthew Abele is a Sergeant E-5 in the US Army Reserves from the 363rd Military Police unit out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is almost 23 yrs old, his birthday we will miss while he is overseas, is December 31. Before he was activated, Klay was a film student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he studied Digital Media Production. He was an outstanding student, with drive and ambition. After classes he was also a devoted father to our 10 month old son Konnor, whom he adores! On a side note, Klay will miss all of the firsts a normal family would get to experience; he will miss Konnor's first steps and first crawls, Konnor's first birthday and also our first wedding anniversary. Aside from his family life, he is an adventurous soldier and has never complained about his commitment in the Reserves. As a child he was always playing with GI Joe's. And now, he lives out his childhood dream as a soldier. He is also a HUGE fan to the 2009 6-time Super-bowl Champs Pittsburgh Steelers & the 2009 Stanley Cup Winners Pittsburgh Penguins. Although their unit has just deployed, we continue to miss him more and more with each day. We pray every day that our soldier & the rest of all the men and woman serving our country, return safely to their loved ones. - Kylie Abele See all of your Salutes here. I'm very excited for him to get home so I can show him his new weight room that is his (surprise) birthday present! All in all I would just like to pass on to Anthony that I love him and miss him and both me and our dogs can't wait for him to come back home to us." - Jessica Stong See all of your Salutes here. So that's it, folks. The Morning Sunshine contest has come to a close. Stay tuned to the show in the following weeks, as we announce the grand prize winner of the show, who will get to come to Atlanta and meet Robin. Today's tip comes from Terri T. Check out her absolutely genius advice for inspiring confidence in her children. "I tell my children to focus on making the people around them feel welcome. I tell them to know their presence in a room is a blessing whether they do something or not. Each of them is unique – shy, bold, funny, or serious. All of these wonderful traits are there to be a blessing to themselves and others. Confidence is not something they need to yearn for, but something they will find in their possession when they realize the truths of the wonderful people they already are." Just perfect. Thanks so much to everyone who played along! Posted by: Morning Sunshine Contest September 17, 2009 Love all the way from AfghanistanPosted: 12:57 PM ET

As our Morning Sunshine contest comes to a close, it seems like the advice we're getting from viewers just keeps getting better and better.
Viewers have shared so many of their own great tips for building confidence, to celebrate the release of Robin's book.
Today, Jim from Farmington Hills, Michigan, shared these words of wisdom: "I inspire self-confidence in others by making them stop and really think about how much good they have in life. Most of us have more than enough great things going for us but don't stop often enough to realize it. I compliment them on what they are good at and encourage them to go for their dreams. Self-confidence ... It is a daily choice, a mindset, that once made nobody will ever look back." So inspirational! Thanks Jim! Keep tuning in to Morning Express and make sure you catch when we announce the grand prize winner. Posted by: Morning Sunshine Contest September 16, 2009 Empower them earlyPosted: 11:31 AM ET
The Morning Sunshine contest continues, and Robin is now out on a book tour promoting her book, "Morning Sunshine: How to Radiate Confidence and Feel it Too." Check out our showpage for a look at Robin's tour stops, and see if you can't schedule a time to go meet her in person. Today's confidence building tip comes to us from Ronald A, who shares how he inspires confidence in young troops: "As a 19 year veteran of the USAF, I inspire confidence in my young troops by daily challenging them to tasks that they may not have done before or build on their skills or knowledge; tasks that they can easily accomplish by themselves but may have never had to do. By empowering them, early, they become stronger, more confident future leaders of the USAF and have the confidence to deploy to places like Iraq knowing that they can over come the stress and dangers they may face." - MSgt Ronald Anderson, USAF Posted by: Morning Sunshine Contest Let's see your tips for making others shine!Posted: 05:51 AM ET
Hey folks! This week we are asking how you help others radiate self-confidence. That's right, how do you make other people feel great about themselves? Tuesday's winning answer has a lot to say about why it's important to share with people the one thing we all love getting: a compliment! "When you compliment people it makes them shine ... even on a bad day a compliment will boost that self-confidence. Looking directly into someone’s eyes when you're having a conversation, and really listening to people makes them feel that you are interested in what they are telling you (even if you not). Self confidence can be destroyed in many ways. I'm a believer in building it, not tearing it down, even if I fell like crap." From: Sheree B. Thanks Sheree! Do you have a secret for making other people shine? Share it with us! We'd especially love to see your iReports! You could win a chance to meet Robin Meade! This week, the final week, in fact, of the Morning Sunshine Contest, we are asking viewers to share their tips for instilling confidence in others. Today's winner has a great piece of advice! She says: "I hope to build self confidence in others by always addressing them by name and offer a positive comment on either how they look, how they appear to feel or on something that I know they recently accomplished, whether it's raising a child or planting a flower. By doing this, I also build MY self esteem by feeling happy." - Sharon E. Want to play for a chance to win Robin? Share your tips for building confidence and self-esteem in the people around you! ![]() Crystal Ogo and her husband Private First Class Kevin Ogo and their son Noah. "I just want to salute my soldier for the courage and dedication he has shown to his country and to his family. I don't think people understand the difficulties that military families face when a loved one is sent to fight in a war. Its really scary and stressful not only for the soldier but the family left behind. Kevin and I have been married for a year and due to the Army life and trainings have only lived together for 4 months out of that year, Kevin deployed when I was seven months pregnant ... he missed the birth of our son by a few hours (even though he was heading home on leave) because there were no available flights in to NY that day and no one was willing to give up their seat ... when he didn’t make it for the birth he was heartbroken, due to his deployment he has missed our 1 year anniversary, celebrating his 21st birthday and my birthday. He will miss most of our son's first milestones and he will miss Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am looking forward to bringing in the New Year because Kevin will finally be home in 2010 and my new year’s resolution is to celebrate everyday with my husband and our family. My husband is an amazing man and is loved by everyone that knows him, because of how much he has sacrificed already ... it's not enough that he is risking his life everyday for our country he loves and values our family so much! It is only 132 days till I can hold my husband and see his face instead of talking to him through the computer screen. I’m so excited for this deployment to finally be over and for our family to be whole again!" - Crystal Ogo See all of your Salutes here. Upload your Salute to Troops at iReport.com!
