Potentially deadly Honda recall

Posted: 07:58 AM ET

Almost half a million Hondas are being called back to the shop due to a potentially deadly airbag defect.

If you or someone you know drives any of the following models, act quickly in getting your car looked at!

The driver's side airbags can over pressurize, and, according to Honda's release: "If an affected inflator deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator casing to rupture. Metal fragments could pass through the cloth airbag cushion material, possibly causing an injury or fatality to vehicle occupants."

Honda spokesman Chris Noughtan told CNN's the potential defect has resulted in six known injuries and one known death.

The company will send a recall notice in the mail over the next few months, the release said.

The certain vehicles from the following groups are known to be affected:

2001-2002 Hondas
Accords, 2001 Civics
2002-2003 Acura TLs

Owners may check their car's recall status by visiting the Honda "Owner Link" Web site at www.owners.honda.com/recalls or the Acura "My Acura" Web site at www.owners.acura.com/recalls.

Once again I am subsidizing a program that is a temporary boost to the economy with my hard earned dollars which benefits only a few. The government would help the economy more by giving a tax break to all of those who really pay taxes and then we could stimulate all sectors of the economy.

Re: 3 hikers in Iran – I sincerely hope they are released soon, but seriously, folks, what part of "war zone" didn't they understand? Who goes recreation hiking in a country where Americans are still fighting and being killed, and even more questionable – who wanders along the border of a country we consider hostile, especially after the unfortunate Laura Ling/Euna Lee incident in Korea. I would be amazed if Iran did NOT consider them spies or drug traffickers.

Robin, this New Orleans family is your Number One mascot . . . we heard you loudly and clearly when you expressed it while talking to our Rafer in a sports segment !!! As Rafer reassured you with saying the following: "Robin, we all your mascots. . . ." That is the reason you–Robin–"Morning Express", and "Headline News" are at the top of the chart of the morning news programs !!! Thank-you so much to our Jenn for posting the such vital, important information about the 2001, 2002, and 2003 "Honda" models recall from the company !!! We can only hope and pray that the injuries (or even deaths) are limited–as so many families are on road trips for their summer vacation !!! Hopefully, owners will take your suggestion by checking out the Honda "Owner Link" website/"My Acura" website, instead of waiting for a recall notice to be sent to them within the next few months !!! This wait is too long to be possibly driving around with a potentially deadly airbag-defective automobile !!! Jenn, you are such a caring and considerate person to be always thinking of others who could possibly be in harm's way–due to the myriad dangers which lurk out there !!! Robin, have a Happy Wednesday; we love ya, Ohio girl . . . Robin's Follies !!!

With the two reporters coming back from North Korea how many more reporters are going to try and do the same thing in search of a story? Are news reporters that oblivious to the possible consequences of "accidentally" walking into hostile countries like North Korea and Iran? Then to expect some kind of leniency from that country because they're Americans? I think Euna and Laura need a reality check on current affairs. I'm even more upset that they dragged the whole country into this situation with North Korea! Maybe someday they will tell the truth about their little adventure to North Korea but I doubt it.

Carole Alexander on August 3rd is right on the money. Give OUR money back to us (in my case, my wife since I got laid off in March). Let us determine what business to stimulate. Although I too have been tempted to trade in my '98 SUV for a new SUV, this is just a temporary boost, pulling what otherwise would be future auto sales forward. Give the taxpayer back their $$ to spend / invest / save, reduce our taxes, DON'T take more $$ from those earning $250k+. Remember Ronald Regan? Reduce tax RATES, increase tax REVENUES.
Obama is just trying to buy votes with our $$.

I just wanted to comment on the report that was given concerning having a credit check done for employment. Especially concerning a plumber. That is a big joke. Licensed plumbers make between $40,000 and $80,000 a year and we have a lot of schooling that we have to attend every year in order to renew our license. Check and see what happened to a Dallas principle for telling students to drop out of school and become a plumber because they did not need an education for that. Our credit and background means a lot to us too. We are in people's home daily. WE deal with the public daily. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have money to pay their bills on time nor provide for their families the way they want. It is tough............. Been there, done it........................
