Men fantasize about popping the question?

Posted: 08:43 AM ET

CNN Deputy Political Editor Alex Wellen has published his first novel “Lovesick.” Critics are loving it, and so are we!

During his research for the book, he came to some interesting conclusions about love and marriage … including an answer to the question: “Do men really want to get married?”

Check out Alex's interview with Natasha Curry:

When I was younger I did and as I get older the only time I think about it is when I watch Morning Express. I am sure you have heard this before, but just walking up to Robin Meade and getting a yes would be a true dream come true. Jon Phillip Boulton-Paducah,ky

Robin, we were so happy to see you with that gorgeous smile back on "Morning Express" . . . you were missed very much, but we hope you enjoyed your extended, well-deserved weekend !!! Natasha did an excellent job, but remember, Robin: you are our morning sunshine !!! Congratulations are in order to CNN Deputy Political Editor Alex Weller for the publication of his novel, "Lovesick !"–what a work of art !!! I (mom Kathryn), being a former bookstore manager for eleven years, do still try to keep up with the literary world as often as I can !! In regard to the question being asked, "Do men really want to get married?", just ask our Robin's husband . . . as we all will agree he found the real Cinderella of all the classic storybook endings with our special girl !!! Also, we cannot forget our Bobby and his lovely wife, Ally, as you can see for yourself on Bobby's blog entitled "Bob Rocks the Half Marathon": they are a beautiful couple and caring parents, as well !! So guys, stop hitting the bar scenes "Looking for Ms. Goodbar"–and just go with the flow if it is meant for you !!! Have a great Wednesday, Robin; we love ya, Ohio girl . . . Robin's Follies !!!

I planned out every detail and couldn't wait. I was so excited to propose to her that once I got the ring it was sheer torture trying to keep it a secret...I flew us to France and proposed in Paris at the Palace of Versailles with her dream ring. (I saved for a LONG time) When it's the right girl...we become giddy just thinking about her reaction when we propose.(although most of us are too macho to admit it) And now...Happy Wife=Happy Life!

I DONT THINK MEN WANNA BE MARRIED. I THINK MEN WANNA HAVE SEX WHENEVER THEY WANT TO AND MARRIAGE IS THE TRADITIONAL WAY OF PRODUCING THAT SORT OF ATMOSPHERE.

I never fantasized about popping the question. However, to the question about men wanting to get married my answer is yes. I've always known I wanted to be married, have a family, and be a father. Family was always very important when I grew up. My family believes very strongly that blood is thinker than water.

I couldn't wait to get married. I used to fantasize about proposing, even before I ever had a girlfriend. I didn't get to pop the question the way I planned: Letterman's producer wouldn't let me do it on the show!

Robin,

If you were my future wife I sure would fantasize about popping the question.

You are such a hottie and your husband is such a lucky guy.

It is a pleasure to wake up and watch you do the news.

Marriage is one of the most fun things that I have done. It is exciting to get to know my wife more every day. The things that you'll remember isn't the big house, the fancy car, but the times you went to spend time by yourselves traveling or sitting and talking about the past, present and future. Maybe it was the time you guided her through the crowded streets in downtown Seattle or the time both of you went to a friends house for dinner.
I can honestly say I wouldn't know what to do without my wife. I may be the "CEO" but she is the "COO" and her opinion is very valuable.
There is great sadness in me when I hear about divorce or death between married couples. Not out of pity, but because there is loss there.

It's every man's nature to want to "take care of" and "produce" a family.
Not all men will admit to this, but to pass along your seed and keep your family name going is the nature of men.

It's always about seeking out your other half. Even if you are dating 10 women a week, you are still on the hunt. And it's only a matter of time before you find that one that takes your breath away that will make you lay in bed late at night 'fantasizing' about asking her to marry you.

Morning Robin! If it is so that men fantasize about popping the question, then I better have the world's most romantic proposal of all time. My guy has had 9, yes 9, years to dream up something unforgettable!

Marriage is a wonderful institution for people who feel the need to be institutionalized.

Ryan   August 10th, 2009 11:29 am ET

Only men that want to get married are gay men...

Straight men give up.

Dave Braun   August 13th, 2009 7:32 am ET

I believe just as in any other societal aspects, marriage is in the eyes of the beholder's, and there are many different people under the sun; so, yes, men really do fantisies about marriage; I have and will often, it's about weather the man wants to remain single or recieve much more...

Jimmy   August 13th, 2009 8:33 am ET

Men don't fantasize about popping the question. Men plan this blessed event out....some more carefully than others.

Jon   August 14th, 2009 8:32 am ET

These guys who keep saying how they couldn't wait to get maried and how much fun it is must not have been married very long.

Craig Kindred   August 14th, 2009 9:09 am ET

We both wanted it ,its beautiful when two people know what they want and share the same feelings for each other

TC Hartwell   August 17th, 2009 6:25 am ET

There's only two types of "Love" in this world today, # 1. the "Love Of
Lust" when men married for the wrong reason, & # 2. the "Love Of Love" when men get married for the "Right" reason! Yet, men go for the #1. reason just to get what they want from the woman period! You'll find "Love Of Lust" is more accepted then the "Love Of Love"!

Lord M. Shaheed   September 26th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

Hello there Robin. You are looking great. Well I wrote a book about love where it speaks about a Royal that fell in love. It's called "Speed Pimpin: Mackin at the speed of light". This Royal had a way with women but this one woman had him go crazy with her love. Google it.
