Bob's half marathon training

Posted: 11:25 AM ET

Morning Express meteorologist Bob Van Dillen

It is hard to believe the Napa to Sonoma half marathon is only 3 weeks away.  I can't wait to not train in the Atlanta heat anymore!

I am proud to be the honorary chairman for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and this race will bring much needed attention to these diseases.  1.4 million Americans are living with Crohn's and ulcerative colitis and over 150,000 are under the age of 18.  An estimated 2/3 to 3/4 of children with Crohn's disease will require one or more operations in their lifetime!

You can help support me by making a donation to CCFA right here.

This week's training schedule is pretty rough, but my 'handles' have shrunken to a new low.  I haven't seen my ribs since I was 19, but now you can see they may be there through a thinner layer of flab.  I guess I'll still run after this half marathon.

Tuesday: weights, 5 mile run
Wednesday: weights, 45 minute tempo run
Thursday: weights, 3 mile run
Friday: weights, no run (thank you!!)
Saturday: 5 mile at 8:20 pace
Sunday: 11 mile run

Robin, you were very pretty in blue this morning (as always) ! The saying "When she walks into a room, she lights it up" is precisely how this family feels when we see you, Robin, on "Morning Express" ! Congratulations, Bobby, on being named honorary chairman for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America . . . such a distinguished honor for you ! And such a worthy cause to be involved with in helping so many individuals affected by this dreadful disease. We don't know how you and your wife are dealing with this excessive, record-breaking heat wave that we all are experiencing at this time ! On our local news, there was a feature of a Jackson Square/French Quarter artist who had to hose down his pet "Iggy" iguana, because of the heat–which had captured tourists' attention. We have been fortunate to have had a few afternoon thunderstorms pop up lately, which does help to cool it down; maybe they will make their way to you in Atlanta ! Good Luck !! Have a great Tuesday, Robin; we love ya, Ohio Girl . . . Robin's Follies !!!

Robin, our statesmen have been adulterous since the good ole' founding days. Remember our founding father Thomas Jefferson, the author of the constitution, having liasons with a person in which he owns...literally? Not to mention, Ben Frank vs. The Moulin Rouge. The man was a swinger diplomat, to say the least. Cnn would have reported on both if "Showbiz Tonight" and sattelites had existed.

Good luck with your training! Running in Atlanta heat is rough. The heat combined with the hills is a killer.

Best you not run while holding fireworks, I saw that re-created with a watermelon head stunt double and it wasn't pretty.

Between Sarah Palin and MJ can't get any real news. Nothing else going on out there CNN? Heard a quick clip about a serial killer, but had to get on the internet to get the story...you're running the same stories that E news is headlining. How pathetic.

As a veteran 13.1er, be sure to run 14 miles for your last training run. Probably mental, but it seems to make an amazing difference in the race. Comfort zone...
