Need help affording your prescriptions?

Posted: 07:03 AM ET

Business Correspondent Jennifer Westhoven

This might really help if you're struggling right now to afford your medicine.

You could get your prescriptions filled for free.
You could get your prescriptions filled for free.

You might be able to get your prescriptions filled for free.

Pfizer is giving away some of its most widely-prescribed drugs for people who have lost their jobs and their health insurance.

To qualify, call them at 866-706-2400.

There are also many pharmacies (like Kmart, Costco and BJ's) offering cheap prices for many prescriptions.

This is a big deal: a recent poll found that almost 30 percent of adults say they haven't filled prescriptions because they cant afford it.

For more details, check out this story from CNN's personal finance expert Gerri Willis.

Robin, you are the true definition of the saying "Good Morning, Sunshine ! " in your bright-yellow outfit on Morning Express ! Jennifer, you are so right in your post–as you brought attention to the fact that the numbers are rising as to the adults who cannot fill their prescriptions due to the financial crunch that is being felt all over our states ! The unemployed, elderly, and homeless are the victims who are being forgotten in this major crisis . . . especially our poor homeless people here in New Orleans who do not have a place to live, much less be able to fill their prescriptions. Ever since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, these helpless souls have been shunned and ignored by our great city (shame on that ) ! The majority of them are sleeping wherever they find an abandoned building (believe us: there are plenty of abandoned buildings to go around) ! Without their medicine–as the majority of them are mental patients who cannot function in a normal society–they will tend to fall apart; sadly, they will only end up harming themselves or putting others in danger because of the lack of their daily medication. Let's hope that Our President Obama can do something to help speed up this lifesaving dilemma–before it's too late for so many of our people !! Enjoy your day, Robin ! "We Love Ya, Ohio Girl ! " . . . Robin's Follies !!!

How are free rxs going to help older people? Every drug company offfers a break to those in need UNLESS the person has Medicare Part D, which most people believe covers all rx costs. It does not, and the coverage gap is a nightmare.

Wall street is supposed to be profitable, so we bail them out.
Healthcare is supposed to be compassionate, but you can not get it unless YOU can make it profitable! That my friends is backwards.

We americans are so lucky, when it comes to be the best health care in the world, however, i'm afraid the level of quaility will suffer greatly once, we inact a national health care plan. if your healthy you wouldn't normal, think about the level of quality, but if your not so lucky with good healty than you should be worried.
