Obama's first 100 days, superhero or something missing?

Posted: 12:44 PM ET

Today President Obama marked his 100th day as President. Typically, the 100 day mark is the time to stop and judge the progress of a newly elected president, as many presidents make promises on the campaign trail of what they will achieve in their first 100 days.

Obama's first 100 days. What do we think, America?
Obama's first 100 days. What do we think, America?

We asked Morning Express viewers what they thought of Obama's first 100 days. Their responses range from tongue-in-cheek: "I worry that we are heading surely but steadily toward socialism. However very glad the girls have a dog," to purely enthusiastic: "Bravo, Mr. President, bravo."

What do you think? Share your own views in the comments field below.

- I think Obama is doing a fantastic job considering he inherited an economic mess. People just need to have patience and let him do what we elected him to do ... keep up he great work. – Chaunte in Dover, Delaware

- President Obama has done a fine job in his first 100 days, but I think we are still waiting for him to get to the major issues. - Dawn Cox in Waycross, Georgia

- I don't no why everyone expects our president to fix Bush's mess IN 100 DAYS! Give him a chance. He has 100% support from this Army Soldier.

- I'll give him an 'A' for a good start. He gets extra credit for continuing to rise above the negativism of his detractors.

- I didn't vote for him but I've been impressed with the job he has done so far and think the country made the right choice.

- Obama needs to keep an eye on the economy and need to make sure what dc does today doesn't hurt the future. – Gregory in Maine

- Obama has missed the mark. The budget is overblown, the deficit will be crushing and he wants to "punish" the most productive with higher taxes. Bad show!

- Obama makes me want to be a better person, a better American, because he leads by example. He has renewed my patriotism. – Desiree in Tampa, Florida

- President Obama is doing a good job although he is making a terrible decision bailing out all those companies not to mention more than once. - Rachael in Georgia

- Obama is wasting so much money! People blamed Bush for spending but look at our president now. - WDH

- I don't recall anyone judging the former president so harshly. Why does it seem like Americans, especially republicans, want Obama to fail? It seems unfair.

- Need to make room on Mt. Rushmore. - Peter in Birmingham, Alabama

- The president's inexperience is visible now that we get small glimpses of his administration. Hopefully he can learn from his mistakes. - Johnny Cole in Kentucky

- Is it just now 100 days ... we've been treating him like his 100 days was two months ago! Fine job Mr. President!!!! - Homer

- In the first 100 days with Obama, swine flu is the best thing that has happened.

- Obama needs to focus on national healthcare with so many people out of work and no health insurance we need universal health care now.

- I would like to see the President put more emphasis on homeland security. This is no time to let our guard down and turn all focus to the economy.

- It will take years to clean up the mess from the last administration. Obama can't do it all in 100 days. – Jamie in Missouri

- Considering all or most republicans are working against Obama he is doing good. We should support Obama no matter what because he is our president.

- I worry that we are heading surely but steadily toward socialism. However, very glad the girls have a dog. - Anonymous in Guntersville, Alabama

- I think that Obama has done a wonderful job taking care of the economy and has done well taking our troops to places where we need them. GO OBAMA! - Seth

- President Obama is doing a great job and I look forward to his next 100 days!! Fine job, Mr. President. – S. Harris

- I applaud president Obama for his work. It took bush eight years to bring our economy down, and it only took Obama a hundred days to fix it! - Hallel

- The president has been a true superhero tackling everything from the wars to the economy bravo Mr. President bravo.

- In the first 100 President Obama has done a fine job thus far given the circumstances he entered. I believe he will progress as the next 100 more pass.

- With all the president's been faced with I think he's doing an incredible job. Republicans are just too bitter to see an upside. - Jay

- Obama has taken the load that Bush left him with stride and is doing a great job. The negative comments are unpatriotic. Well done! Brian G. in Kentucky

- President Obama has spent money like water and increased our national debt enormously. He promised change and he fulfilled that promise for sure! - Carmen

- I don't give all the credit to Barack Obama it is democrats generally who provide positivity to the country. - Seth in Michigan

- The President needs to stay on task with the illegal immigration. That would save millions for our economy and keep the US working.

- It seems like 100 years. It is an all out assault on everything that made our country great. - Scott Yocum in Salvisa, Kentucky

- I think the president spent way too much money on the bailouts that will take years to pay back but he's doing well in other areas so far. – Mike in Wisconsin

How much of our taxpayer money was spent on the photo shoot of the president's sometimes Air Force One over NYC?

David P Williams   April 29th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

We've had only 100 days, and the truth is Obama has been faced with putting a coup back in the box. Bush et. al. staged a sucessful coup that overturned financial, military, and foreign policy/ Obama is trying to put that coup back in the box without comming to blows with the coups supporters and without the public noticing.

Jon Phillip Boulton   April 29th, 2009 6:10 pm ET

As Americans, can we just think about this. Yes maybe we can fix everything in just seconds, but let's be honest. We did not get here in just a few seconds, and no one was stopping us from trying to get our money before Obama, now everyone wants to get mad. PLEASE wait the whole year not the first one hundred days. We as Americans are going to be just fine, but WE need to work together and not blame just one person for all our troubles. I say go Obama and may you have ALL eight years to do what you said you are going to do.

Our president is doing an excellent job. We are truly blessed to have such a president

zoie   April 29th, 2009 9:22 pm ET

I am all for obama but i feel as if he spent way to much money on the bailouts and we expected to much from him that is going to take a while to fix!

We are being over run with illegal mexicans here in Houston. We have allready sold everything worth owning to the chinese and now we are giving whats left to the mexicans. Good job government. And this 'love fest' the media has with obama reminds me of two teenagers gropping each other... get a room

Woody   April 30th, 2009 6:54 am ET

My daughter's only 13, but she and her children are already in debt due to the unprecedented debt Obama has piled on us in his first 100 days. 9.6 TRILLION.

Joanne   April 30th, 2009 8:39 am ET

President Obama is doing the best job I've ever seen a president do in my 54 years of life.

Arla Beal   April 30th, 2009 8:52 am ET

Obama has shown outstanding leadership in choice of his
cabinet, in attention to serious matters in a expeditious manner,
in his attention to listening to others at home (including
members of congress) and abroad. He is clear in his
messages to the American people. I trust him as President!

enigmalegend   April 30th, 2009 9:13 am ET

It is really hard for 2 human beans to agree 100% on anything. But I can say with confidence I agree 95 % with the president. I think he has done an outstanding job given that he is a Newbie getting on-the-job training

Asking a question about how President Obama has done in his first 100 days is like asking how a physician has done in his first month of treatments on a cancer patient. The patient looks much sicker, has bouts of vomiting, their hair has fallen out. If you don't understand the disease and how the treatment affects the person, you would probably conclude that the physician is doing a pretty lousy job. Fact is, the way the patient looks is normal, the medicine is working, and the outcome won't be known for some time. It's the same thing with asking people about how President Obama is doing. They don't understand the problem, don't know how what has been done is affecting the economy, or what the outcome will be. So unless you REALLY understand how the world economy works and whether what has been done is what is needed – no matter how it looks today – comments by ordinary people like me have little validity and most likely follow party lines.

How can you isolate the out come of the nation in 100 days at a time.If you think the President isn't doing it right, maybe your life is in more of a mess than the country. We have to give Mr.Obama a chance just like all the other Presidents.

Maira Eaton   April 30th, 2009 10:59 am ET

I gave President Obama A+
He need to drastic changes like this petition:
Polls show most Americans want normal relations with Cuba. But dramatic steps are needed to break through 50 years of Cold-War hostility. President Barack Obama has made it easier for Cuban-Americans to travel to the island and help their families, but more must be done if the two countries are to renew diplomatic ties.
Personal contact is needed. Changing a few regulations isn't enough. Reading a stack of briefing papers isn't enough. Someone from the White House needs to go to Cuba. And Michelle Obama would be an ideal emissary.
The First Lady’s visit would be historic and bold. It would capture the world’s attention. It would be another step in restoring America’s image abroad.
Please sign the White House petition if you believe that Michelle Obama ought to visit Cuba.

Considering what he was left with I give him an A-. He has more campaign promises to keep like letting people take up to $10,000 out of their 401K without penalties which I'm sure would be spent immediately. I know I sure would. Being out of work for 10 month now it's a given.

Vice President Biden should not apologize or back track on his flu remarks!
He’s absolutely correct…I would not want to be with a group of people in any confined space right now!
That’s includes Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

I think that anyone who is "scared" and believes our country is headed towards socialism has no clue whatsoever what socialism actually means. And to the people who think he's "punishing" the rich by increasing their taxes...give me a break. Seriously. He's not punishing you, get over yourself.

paul in branford   May 5th, 2009 4:58 pm ET

The way I see it, if he leaves the country a little better than when he
got the reins, he did his job. Anything better is icing on the cake.

Don in NC   May 6th, 2009 8:06 pm ET

I give him a C- and that is being polite. I'm scared of where this country is heading, just as I was before the elections. This country's voters will get exactly what they deserve.

John   May 7th, 2009 9:52 am ET

While he is much better at public speaking / relations than anyone in the recent past. His lack of business experience shows. The successful companies will move if burdened by taxes or regulation. Dont forget it was lawyers that caused the rise in the cost of business. Lawyers make laws not solutions. For a such a seemingly smart man his alliances are amazingly foolish.

chip   May 7th, 2009 2:30 pm ET

I think he is doing a great job . just think about all he had to take on that he knew about , just hit with some new challenges, Korea's test, mother nature, floods, fire, snow, everything. swine flu, and the economy was even in more problems than we first thought of,. he is looking out for the USA 1st. like that, he has stopped some of the greed that was already in motion. he is looking out for a guy like me. a middle class now (poor) father of 2 happily married. now everything is tense, a lot of stress. but our family mo-to keeps us a strong family unit, eat together and pray together. and you will stay together.. buy local search for American made. chip from Long Neck, DE.

Question for Jennifer Westhoven – YOUR MONEY:

Can "Freeloading" on Credit Cards (paying your balance in full every month) be detrimental to your FICO score??

Is this detriment to your FICO score a MYTH??
