Blogger J preferred McCain’s debating style.

We’re always writing headlines, but we learned from the Vice Presidential debate you the viewers do a far better job than we do.

Today, we want your headlines on the town hall presidential debate. Send us one or two, or five for that matter and we’ll share as many of them as we put them to print on “The Morning Express.”

To get us going, I thought I’d grab several headlines from before the debate instead of after. Most online publications seemed to focus on McCain more than Obama:

“McCain ready for debate battle”: USA Today
David Jackson talks about predebate attacks and how an aggressive tactic may or may not work.

“I don’t expect a rock-’em-sock-’em night”: National Review
Byron York argues that McCain doesn’t need a homerun necessarily but to stay steady in the final weeks of the race.

ALT TEXT

Blogger Connie called it for Obama.

“McCain’s last chance, or a chance to shine?”: MSNBC
Howard Fineman asks if McCain can turn the campaign around, and points to how McCain has been down for the count before and come back.

So were theses authors and publications right? Was it more about McCain than Obama? Did they hit the issues you care about given the diving world stock markets, and troubled economies, domestic and international. You finish this out for us given what you’ve seen and read since last night’s debate.

And all said, did the debate change your mind? Plus regardless of your affiliation, who do you think will win?

Look forward to your headlines!

My headlines for last nights debate..

No Knockouts in round two. Round three? “LETS GET IT ON!”

“Is there an echo in here?”

Rhonda   October 8th, 2008 6:04 am ET

I think it was quite obvious that Obama took this one. John McCain didn’t offer any solutions to the problems and questions proposed – all he did was attack the policies that Obama had to offer. Sounds like same old politics to me, Senator McCain!

Dear Cnn/Robin Meade

Why will not, and should you not, call it like it stands.

The Youthful New JFK…McCain reflects All Old

If not apparent, this debate should be summarized as the first TV broadcast Presidential Debate.

Barack exemplifies all that is right, good, and Promising about America.

John moved around like a broken old Man, which he is with old broken ideas, stiff and almost immobile policies, and just good old stories from the past.

If, for heavens sake, Barack O’bama does NOTHING for America, he would and the American people would be ahead I submit rather than let lose in the hand of the Republicans who are from another 1 to 2 generations from being in touch with today, what is real, and how fast and how quick the world does move.

Thanks, and Kindest Regards

Obama, “For the People”.
Obama took it to the people, explaing how the issues and his solutions affect us on a personal level. He also demonstrated his depth of understanding of how the system works, or does’nt, the loop holes and how to fill them. He believes what he says as opposed to McCain who says what he thinks he needs to say.

It’s not “Howdy Doody Time” and were not in “Fargo”!!!! Everytime John McCain smiles, he looks just like Howdy Doody with about the same seriousness. In addition, when I hear Sarah Palin say,

McCain continues to sink, While Obama pulls a Phelps!!!

I think that
McCain came across mean and uptight. He was very disrespectful to Senator Obama when he referred to him as “this one over there”. I think Obama remained composed and he came across as a president. Infact he reminded me a little on Kennedy.

From the 2nd debate, America witnessed the desperation in Mccain’s voice and substance. Obviously, Mccain thinks that the negative attack would get him in the White House. Sorry, America is suffering great deal, thanks to Bush’s failed policies and Mccain’s supporting him “95 % of the times”. WE CAN”T AFFORD MORE OF THE SAME.

HEADLINES FOR LAST NIGHTS PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE…:

“Test the man for steroids, cuz Barack Obama hit that one out of the park!!!”

Though I am Canadian, I’d be a fool to think that you’re next president won’t affect us Canadians. I don’t care for Obama, as he seems to contradict much of what he says. Although, in watching last nights debate (yes, I watched it – nothing else was on anyway), I thought McCain came out of the gate pretty good, but I guess, given his staggering age, “stamina” isn’t his strong suit.

I love your show and watch it daily… Well, not when you (Robin) aren’t on, but I like the show none the less. Thank you for this outlet…

My headline would be, “McCain Makes the Case.” As an independent voter, it is plain to me that McCain won the debate. I liked his idea regarding keeping people in their homes by renegotiating loan amounts and restoring the housing markets. And, let’s face it, if our national security does not remain intact, it won’t matter how anything else goes and McCain wins that one hands down. It appears that Obama is just reciting what he’s heard or read, not speaking from experience. McCain gets my vote in Virginia.

Ann from Delaware   October 8th, 2008 7:08 am ET

My headline would be…”My friend” McCain out of touch with middle class! If I heard him say “my friends” one more time I was going to puke! He has no idea what the average middle class family is going through as he has never been in that position! Are they foreclosing on any of his homes; has he ever lived paycheck to paycheck wondering which bills he can put off paying until the next month in order to afford gas and groceries? My biggest gripe right now is his health care plan. He wants us to do all the work and shop all available health care plans across the U.S. to find the best one. The first flaw with his proposal is that if we do all that, who is going to ensure that the insurance plans will accept someone from out of state? Secondly, the insurance plans may say they’ll insure someone from out of state but you’ll have to go to that state in order to see any of their plan doctors. Third, whose to say the insurance companies won’t change the rules themselves making it harder to get insurance. After all, $5000 doesn’t go to far when your talking about health insurance. Does McCain have to worry about these questions? No he does not. Since he was a Senator, he will never have to pay for his health care for as long as he lives. Therefore, the consequences of his plan won’t affect him. (Not that he would’ve had to worry about cost anyway)
On a side note, did you see Cindy McCain after the debate last night? It seemed as if she felt she didn’t have to interact with the common people. I did not see her shake hands with anyone in the audience. In fact, she stood stiffly behind McCain with her hands deliberately clasped behind her back and then they made their exit as quickly as possible. Both of the Obama’s stayed behind answering questions, shaking hands, signing autographs, and posing for pictures until forced to leave.

Washington can stop money from going to big corporations that send the american jobs overseas. We need to buy more american products for a while. Another Presidential Election of Lies:

Obama keeps hitting McCain with the Bush administration and its tragic issues. However, let’s look at the facts twelve years ago this problem began with Clinton. Let’s look at his attempt at the Iraq war dollars; he can’t even get this right.

McCain tries to hit Obama with his healthcare and economic policies. what! Not even he can give a resolution that is sure fire fix. So let’s stop pointing to who is the problem and let’s look at what can be done around the actual system every president has to work within.

A president can’t do anything alone; he or she has to work within the congressional delegates assigned.

We wouldn’t select a candidate because he was a Mormon but we can elect a Muslim? Another thing, I keep hearing the downward spiral of Palin and how she isn’t ready. However, it’s because she’s a women. If we women want to make a change, go female. She runs everything else in this country why not the White House.

Obama Looked Pretty And Conveniencing But………

When asked if Israel were attacked by Iran what would each do if they were president McCain flat out said he would attack while Obama indicated he would procceed with talks and other actions first. Our founding fathers did not talk their way into independence from England, they had to fight for it. There are times when one must fight first and talk later. To my knowledge, Obama has never served in the military while McCain has. In my view, Obama is one who would “not” stand up and fight if a crisis should arise when and if we would need to go war while McCain “would”. Obama is not strong enough to lead our country. I am fearful Obama would allow the U.S. to be taken over by another country by not taking action in enough time to do so. Please don’t let Obama’s “dazzle” fool you. Obama appeared nervous, anxious while McCain appeared down right calm and collected. Obama, if I am wrong about all of this, then contact me, Jay Herrod of Clinton, Louisiana by phone, in person. I challenge you to do so.

Obama in the Blue tie for the Middle Class get’s the TKO over McCain in the Red tie for the Richie Rich…..Obviously Obama took this one although there was no real super duper punches that would have wounded anyont it was apparent in the opening round Obama would not leave the middle class to muddle through this mess…While McCain continued to be the “McBush” man of his word, no increase in taxes for anyone and more money to Iraq and less to Americans…This must end before there are only two classes in America, poor and rich….

McCain Out of Touch! Obama Won!

I could go on and on about why I think Senator Obama won, but here are a few reasons.

I found Senator McCain, both out of touch and condescending. He spoke down to not only everyone one in the room, but to every viewer. At one point, in answering, I believe the second question from the house he said and I quote “But you know, one of the real catalysts, really the match that lit this fire was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I’ll bet you, you may never even have heard of them before this crisis.” How rude to imply that we as Americans are unaware or to stupid to know who Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are let alone any other financial institution!

Then after the debate, Senator McCain refused to shake the hand of Senator Obama. He sort of pushed the hand of Senator Obama to his wife to shake and backed away! How can we trust this man to represent the US and how can we trust how he would handle himself in dealing with both enemies and allies if he can’t even shake the hand of his presidential opponent.

The only two people to stay in the room and talk to people were Senator and Michelle Obama. The McCains were no where to be seen and Cindy McCain never once tried to engage in a discussion with any audience member let alone shake hands. She walked around away from the audience with her hands clasped behind her back. Talk about not connecting with the middle class!

And… I could not figure out why Senator McCain kept referring to Ronald Reagan as his hero and referring back to him as Ronald Reagan basically wanted nothing to do with Senator McCain after he divorced his first wife.

I could go on and on but will leave it at this.

Headline: “Voters choice: Lesser of two evils”

I do think I have a bead on both of their plans for the economy and energy.

Mccain will do whatever his handlers advise him to do, either good or bad.

Obama will hope for things to get better through the highest taxes (yes that means for me the blue collar voter too) we’ve ever seen in this country and through raising taxes on businesses(somehow this is supposed to create jobs) until those businesses leave this country. When these things don’t work then he’ll hope some more.

Obama looked and sounded very presidential last night. I got a little tired of McCain saying, “I know how to do it”. He’s had MANY years in the congress with the opportunity to do it and has been part of the problem and not the solution. McCain needs to stop using up his time attacking Obama and start taking the time to really explain his plan. To me, Obama wins last night.

McCain doesn’t even know how many houses he has. Nine supposedly. This is a man who has sold his soul and country to the lobbyists who own him. Those are his constituents.
Who owns Barack Obama? The people! The middle class are his constituents. That’s why Obama wants tax breaks for the middle class and McCain wants to keep Bush’s huge tax breaks for the mega rich. People had better wake up and smell the coffee.
I also don’t appreciate McCains lack of respect for Senator Obama by referring to him as “that one”. What a lack of class he shows. He and Palin should go back to the boonies where they belong.

McCAIN SHOWS MORE OF THE SAME REPUBLICAN WASHINGTON INSIDER BULLSHIT, WHILE OBAMA PROMISES OPENMINDED AND COOPERATIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE WORLD PROBLEMS.

We’ve lived through two wars with Republican Presidents in the last two decades. While the first was correctly managed, the second has been an ongoing string of mistakes and attempts to cover them. We have no choice but to remove the warmongering Republicans and allow Obama to heal the war wounds of the last two decades.
Remember, McCain already admitted that he knows little about the economy. Also remember that he knows little about healthcare and the needs of the American People. He also, and maybe most important, knows nothing about the middle class.

Let’s Really Solve the Housing Question

I think I have a better solution to the housing problem than either Sen Obama or Sen McCain proposed…rather than bailing out the borriwers and/or lenders who made irresponsible commitments in the housing arena, I think banks should take the homeowner’s mortgage, whether it be for 15, 20 or 30 years, and recalculate it for a longer period of time, say 40, 45 or even 50 yearsl. This would make it affordable for the homeowner while adding a degree of stability to the banking industry relative to the current foreclosure crisis. Banks will still get their money but over a longer period of time but will still experience the consequence for in many cases misleading the borriwer, This solution will allow people to remain in their homes but take individual responsibility for their choices…not pass that responsibility to every American.

lmf420   October 8th, 2008 8:27 am ET

Seriously, we need a good leader, not a good speaker. Obama is definitely a good speaker, but he has no experience.

Think about it:
Would you want an experienced teacher teaching your child to read? Or someone straight out of college?

Would you want a freshman quarterback for your team, or a Senior quarterback?

Actions speak louder than words! McCain, apparently, is not going to say everything the way we want to hear it, but he has a proven track record that can stands!

“The truth (experience) stands when all else fails!” The American people better realize we are a failing society. We need a victory for the people.

Last, all I have to say is this:
If Obama wins this election, you all who vote him in better hope he works as good as he speaks!

In one of the questions asked, If the presidential election were held today, for whom would you vote? 68% vote for MCCAIN, 23% Obama, 6% undecided, 2% not answer and 2% other.

There is other very interesting questions in this poll all leading to MCCAIN in all military branches.

It appears to me Obama is playing his cards close to the chest.
There’s a lot he isn’t saying because he isn’t going to divulge his plans just to have them torn apart and degraded by his opponent. Plus the one thing I’ve noticed is every idea Obama has expressed, Mc-Palin have turned it around as being their own original ideas.
I see Obama as being a presidential candidate of the caliber of Jimmy Carter, John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton, taking the best of each of those presidents and rolling them into one person. Obama is doing precisely what he ought to do. God Bless Barack Obama and his beautiful family.
They are firmly in my prayers. McCain/Palin don’t have a solitary clue as to what reality is for the people in this country. I am a 65 yr. old woman who cleans houses to earn a living and I have no health coverage at all because I don’t earn enough to afford it. All I do is work and pay bills. I drive a 16 year old car and do all I can to keep it running so I can get to and from work.
There isn’t any money left over for anything else. The economy in this country is in a total shambles and we are all suppose to come up with more money to finance a war we do not belong in, and bail-out all the financial institutions and home-owners who can’t afford to keep their homes, and come up with extra money to pay for rising costs for heat for our homes, gas for our cars and food for our bellies.
This is total insanity and I guarantee you Mc-Palin has no solutions to fix the economy.

WITH HIS WAR EXPERIENCE McCAIN DEFINES VICTORY AS A DEMOCRATIC IRAQ STABLE AND FRIENDLY TO USA AND IT’S NEIGHBORS. IF ANY WORLD ARMY COULD ACHIEVE SUCH VICTORY IN IRAQ, I WILL BET TO WALK NAKED DOWN A MAJOR STREET IN NEW YORK. AMERICAN ARMY FIGHT WARS WELL, BUT TO BABYSIT DEMOCRACY AT THE HEARTLAND OF ARAB WORLD IS AN ILLUSION.

Headline: United we win – Divided we loose
Welcome to the Divided States of America.

Personally I think this country started its way downhill after the last election. The spirit, the motivation and the pride to be an American is gone and this country needs a leader, who shows the right way out of this mess.
The higher you fly, the deeper you fall and America has not landed yet. I hope for this country that Obama proofs this kind of leadership.

My Headline is:

McCain fails to attack Obama in face 2 face debate!

McCain attacks Obama, and accuses of Terrorist ties, behind his back , but “Mr. Straight talk” , lacks fortitude to say it to his face…

In an desperate effort to bring down Obama, the McCain campaign has made the irresponsible decision of linking Obama to terrorism.
Very Reckless, as the word “Terrorist” , stays in the minds of some people who have ignorant views and prejudice feelings deep inside . How much responsibility will McCain & Palin take if, by any chance, someone in Obama’s family is physically hurt by these comments. They are putting his life at risk, by suggesting he is tied to terrorism! This is very serious, but many are not talking about how this instigates some extremist US groups. We live in a country that for the most part is moving away from prejudice against minorities . However, we have hate groups that have ill intentions toward minorities.

Why can’t McCain & Palin stick to issues like, the economy, health jobs, & how to stop the down spiral of the housing market affecting Americans?

i’m surprised that modern day reporters miss the real stories. for
instance, the aig executive meeting in california. the big story there
seems to be facts and figures, (how much they spent on pedicures).
i would be digging for the reason they were there in the first place.
here is a group that hid info from there own auditors, that milked and lied to their shareholders, bankrupted their company and just got a huge amount of money from the government and are holding discussions in private. if i were a suspicious person i might guess
they were deciding how to deal with the incoming federal regulators, how to cover up their illegal activities and how to milk this winfall to the max.

You shoul be embarrassed by the young man who’s job it is to analyze body language. He said that John McCain looked clumsy and hunched over last night. It is an abomination that this insignificant young man whose business it is to analyze body language does not do his homework. This is the most important analysis of his career and he got it wrong, therefore wrongly influencing millions of people’s extremely important decision.

Shame on him, shame on you for sending this false impression across the world. This is too important to be slothful.

Why is it that John McCain still can’t look at Senator Obama? And to point at the man while he looks away reminds me of a child who is accusing someone of stealing something that they actualy took themself. Very childish, and that to me shows that John McCain is definitely not ready to lead our great nation around the world. I do think however that he should talk to a VA doctor about PTSD. The headline should be “MORE OF THE SAME”

What do you think sanctions on Iran will do? They will starve the Iranian people. What did sanctions do in Iraq? The Iraqis were starved and there had to be an “Oil for food program.” Sanctions are a tool only to starve the populations of the countries you are imposing the sanctions on.
Why has no one mentioned the blockade on Gaza and the West Bank. The people there are not getting adequate food, medicine and gasoline to clean up the waste in the streets and the sewage resultant to daily living. Why has that matter gone unnoticed by the US? The Palestinians are starving and there is no one in the US Government that hears those cries.
Why are the Politicians afraid to talk about the poor in the US? Always the Middle Class! The poor are being “Hit the hardest” by all this economic turmoil. Are you afraid to be called “Socialist” or even “Communist”? Why is doing something to help the poor demonized?
Ma Salama

Amanda King   October 8th, 2008 10:42 am ET

In response to Ann of Delaware. You could not have said it any better. Kudo’s to you!

Furthermore, does McCain understand when Obama asks him about the taxes, and raising them for the upper class, McCain counters with, Obama is saying he wants to raise taxes. Duh! What part of Obama saying, “I AM CUTTING TAXES FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS,” does McCain not get? McCain still won’t say he is going to raise taxes for the upper crust. They are his pals, and he is going to protect their assets at all cost, even bumping off the middle class to do it.

To the writer Kevin from my hometown of Maryland – YES McCAIN DOES HAVE HIS HEARING AID OFF. Everytime the moderator asked him a sensible question, he skirted the issue and started talking about the Energy Crisis. Boinggg! I see why he picked Palin, because she doesn’t answer questions either. You ask her something, and she starts speaking of the Energy Crisis. What the heck does the Energy Crisis have to do with the horses head? In Short – McCAIN AND PALIN ARE BOTH CLUELESS.

I am of the belief that we as american’s don’t understand something fundamental. The president is the head of state only, he doesn’t make the laws, the congress/house/senate make the laws and we have to abide by them, SOOOOO put the blame where it really needs to be on the 3 houses, THE PRESIDENT IS NOTHING BUT THE HEAD OF STATE, like the QUEEN OF ENGLAND for example, we allowed our elected officials take our people and put them in the poor house with warnings coming years before, but no one wanted to listen because they get gratuties (excuse spelling) from the lobbists whom they want in their pocket for future incomes. WE as citizens of the USA should throw those old cronies out of office, throw out the tax laws and rewrite them to make sense and equal to all and healthcare should be fore all US citizens that have worked for a living and paind taxes. We are a country that wants change, STOP STOP STOP sending our jobs outside the USA, don’t give tax breaks to companies that close just for cheaper labor, and by all means, WORKERS, stop always striking for more money, WHEN jobs are so cherished now, how dare you strike at this time. I don’t feel sorry for strikers, let them lose their homes and healthcare and see how the rest is feeling, UNION, i am sorry at one point i believed in them, but they are not the onese suffering.

Philip Lefkoff   October 8th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Why should we be surprised that we got no real answers last night? Neither candidate wants to put up any information that can be attacked by the other for 26 days. I would hope that both would have a plan or advisors who are ready to implement something once they are elected. McCain tried to put something out there, albeit it was already passed by congress(the 300 billion for mortgage buyouts). Look how he was slammed by members of the republican party. I would not even expect to get much from the 3rd debate. Probally 2 weeks from the election they will start to give us detailed plans on how they will deal with economic crisis.

As far as the debate: McCain looked his age…Tired…If this was his favorite format, it did not work well for him. He was trying to tell jokes and no one was laughing. He should have realized the mood of everyone there, that they were concerned about recent events. Also, he kept harping on the same thing over and over again. Energy, energy , energy…Personally I do not think energy will solve or problems they are deep and complex. Obama on the other hand sounded and looked very confident. Maybe if the debate were held earlier in the day McCain might look better.

Maybe I have become very cynical in my old age or just fed-up with all the bull we hear from the politicians during election years. Also the press doesn’t help this either. Please explain to me what you mean by “not exactly/totally truthful”. Where I come from we call it a lie. How can the two presidential hopefuls state facts and the day after the press does a fact-check and finds out the information presented was, in fact, not the facts. It is amazing that the press can find the facts but the candidates and their staff can not. We are going the elected one of these jokers in November to lead this country. We will expect them to make decisions from factual data and input from their staff. Where are they going to get this information if they can’t do it now. It seems the only time either candidate tells truth is when they call their opponent a liar.

Socialism v. Capitalism – Fundamentally Different
Which are we?

Just for kicks, lookup their definitions. I went on-line to http://www.dictionary.com and looked them up. Beyond the most commonly noted definitions, I found the following definition under socialism to be rather interesting. Especially given the dialogue last night during the (so called) debate:

*SOCIALISM (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. ”

We are sunk if these are the only two choices we have for president. Neither candidate gave straight answers or solutions to the current economic crisis. As someone who has paid their bills on time and made wise choices I don’t want to “bail” out those who have not. There will be no lessons learned from that strategy.

Its stupid to debate “who won the debate”. If our president’s primary job was to solve the worlds problems, in public debate, I’d say, go on, elect the dweeb from Illinois. It isn’t. Same song different dance
As long as they are playing the blame game, McCain needs to point to the root of the econmic problem. President Carter who signed into law CRI and President Clinton who put more pressure on the banks to loan sub prime loans to unqualified borrowers. ACORN who not only pressured the banks but actualy used overseaers to insure that at least 50% of mortgages went to minorities.

Sean M.   October 9th, 2008 8:30 am ET

It was reported on morning express that people’s names were illeagaly being removed from voter registration

The real story is that the organization ACORN has had an office raided by the FBI for fraudulantly registering voters, and the investigation is now moved to ten states. The raid in Nevada turned up voter registrations for the entire Dalas Cowboy starting lineup. Over 800 fraudulant registrations were found in one county in MO, and there have been instances where the same person has been found to have been registered to vote by ACORN from ten times in one case and seventy two times in another. There is nothing illeagal about the investigation and ACORN has admitted to the fraud.

Headline: McCain questions Obama’s link to radical Ayers

Once again predatory Wall Street perverts and their Congressional deregulatory accomplices have sodomized the American middle-class and poor. Responsibility for these rapacious crimes does not lie with radical Muslim terrorists with names like Hussein, but with fellow Americans, Christians with names like George, Dick, Franlin, Robert, Phil, and too many other self-aggrandizing patrioits to name in this post. Yet, the wrinkly white-haired old dude persists in living in the past, making desperate attempts to avoid current events by creating a make-believe revisionist past for his opponent.

While recent events have focused on economic and financial issues, underlying those is a grave threat to national security, because of reckless, imprudent actions of Wall Streeters and Congress, fellow Americans. These greedy acts have emboldened sworn enemies and harmed steadfast allies.

Article 3, section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, the Treason Clause, clearly states that actions taken during wartime to aid and abet our nation’s enemies are treasonous. If the current crisis, now spread throughout the world, does not aid and abet our enemies, then what does qualify as a treasonous act.

Patriotism is your country first. Let me repeat that last sentence for the benefit of Wall Street, its complicit congressional minions, and the wrinkly, white-haired dude’s campaign and followers. PATRIOTISM is your country first, not your country estate first.

A mad-as-hell patriot and middle class taxpayer,

Headline: Stock Market Declines with Increases in Obama’s polls

In reviewing the trends with the stock market tumble, initially there
appeared to be a relationship between the housing market and the stock market amist uncertainty with who would be the next president of the US. However, secondary trends appear to show a correlation between Barach Obama’s increasing rankings in the election polls and subsequent market slides. When McCain’s polls increase, the stocks rise a little. While this originally puzzled me, I realized that if Obama is elected president, he intends to tax the rich. By getting out of the market now, the rich can avoid paying the anticipated tax increases from Obama’s promises to raise taxes. Unfortunately, the people who will suffer the most are those backing Obama.

Candidates Miss the Boat on Healthcare!

How do I get this message to the candidates?

The key to fixing our healthcare system is getting started. I would like to suggest that on Jan.1 2009, whichever president we have, announce that henceforth LEGAL ALIENS will be allowed to vote and that retroactive to 1/1/2000, all babies born to registered voters have up to $5,000 of health care expenses in any one year paid by MediCare…. for life.

Additionally, all registered voters will be rewarded for establishing a Health Savings Account so that they can self-insure for expenses above $5,000 in any one calendar year and carry INSURANCE only for expenses that EXCEED the federal base and the amount in their personal HSA.

After 100 years we will ALL be covered and the need for insurance will be substantiall reduced…. which will reduce costs. But ya gotta get started somewhere! Oh and by the way, Non-Registered aliens and those who do not register to vote will NOT be eligibe for the same advantages.

That’s all THEY have to do to solve the health care “crisis” and the “illegal” alien problem. BE SOLUTIONS FOCUSED!!!!!!

PAY IT FORWARD. -R. Deval (A Canadian eh?)

Am I the only one who sees the angery speakers at the Mcain event as planted by the Mcain event? I mean why would Mcain supporters act out in such an angry negative manner so openly unless they were posted their to do just that ? It just came across as fake to me.
I questioned the woman who handles the voters registration for our town of Ellington Ct and found that more people have signed up this year than she could recall from any election. She also quoted some impressive numbers for the state of Ct. Is this a trend reaching state to state? Has this years election pulled more voters into the election than others? This election has certainly captured the attention of my family members.

Carl Avery   October 10th, 2008 10:05 am ET

If they’re both telling the truth neither should be president. If they’re both lying neither are worthy of our votes. Why can’t we have a president who has to work for a living? A single mom who works two jobs or an unemployed father with school age kids.

Three Comments:

1. I’d like to know what the candidates are going to do about the 20-30 million illegal Mexicans in the United States.

2. I’d Candidate Obama to explain his stand on the 2nd Amendment and why he wants it abolished.

3. Why the candidates don’t address the fact that our forefathers, the framers of the Constitution of the United States, made provisions for the House of Representatives to only have 2 years, the Senate 6 and the President 4 years of service but the people that are in insist on staying to make lifelong careers? Why don’t they serve their terms and leave. I believe that our country would be stronger as a result.

Darlene   October 10th, 2008 9:42 pm ET

McCain wins the dirtiest campaign, Palin wins the Governors Shame award, and Bush wins the lowest approval rating in the American history, Obama wins the election.

Most people are tired of all the bickering. As I used to tell my children, quit fighting. When I hear negitive ads I turn the TV off, because I am tired of the mud slinging.

People know that the last year has proven that our government has messed up our nation in the past 8 years and they are leaving it in shame and leaving others to clean it up.

I know we cannot do anything to the Bush and Chaney for doing this to our wonderful country. They will both leave office with shame and not receive their golden parachute.

God be with the next president for he is going to need alot of help

It was like watching one of my daughter’s tea parties and two dolls get into a tiff. It was the most silly debate I have ever watched. Both Obama and McCain do not get the point of political debates. Neither candidate wants to step forward and lay out their plan to the public. It will cost them and us in the end. I feel that I might get shoppers remorse if I buy into either candidates vague plan. In the next debate, asugesstion should be made to kill their mics if they start the sissy fighting again. We despately need one of these guys to step up and emerge as the true leader of the country.

The lady in Wisconson calling Obama all the racist names on national TV so that the voters would see him as a fair person and not someone that hates Obama. I AM NOW MORE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE UNITED STATES AND ABROAD AND NOW FEEL THAT SOMEONE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT ALL PEOPLE AND NOT JUST THE RICH PEOPLE. I DON’T HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST RICH PEOPLE, BUT I DO HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO SEEM TO WANT TO KEEP THE RICH RICH AT THE EXPENSE OF KEEPING THE POOR POOR AND THE MIDDLE CLASS ON THEIR WAY TO BEING POOR. I would like to know about the video on utube saying that Obama isn’t a naturalized citizen. It is showing Philip J Berg, Esq speaking who claims he has been an attorney in Pa for 37 years, former deputy attorney, a democrat, 31 year committee person , candidate on the democratic ticket for governor and several other designations. He is claiming that Obama wasn’t born in the US. Can you shed any light on this?

In response to Richard Denig Grand. Richard, of all the reasons for not trusting someone please don’t let it be because of their name. Would it be ok for me to not hire you for a job because of your name? No one hides his full name, his name is Barack Hussein Obama. I am really upset about the whole economic situation.

The housing downfall has hit very hard, but my husband and I take responsibility for every decision we’ve made. Do we need to be bailed out? NO!!

We currently own 3 houses and have mortgages of about $2,800 a month. Two of those homes are empty and on the market and we continue to pay on those because that is our responsibility! America, take responsibility and don’t expect to be bailed out! If you sign a contract, read the fine print and know what you are getting into!

Yes, we have to save in other areas. Our 3 sons are suffering, but we will not sacrifice our good name to big companies.

Also, I do blame credit agencies for giving loans to people who may not be able to keep up on their payments.

It seems like it’s a no win situation all around.

Integrity is everything and we have kept that promise in this household. Who else is?

My Headline: “I Wish That I Could Make As Much As Joe The Plumber”

Poor Joe is concerned that under Senator Obama’s tax plan, he would have to pay higher taxes because he would make more than 250K a year. In a sole proprietorship business, the owner of the business pays personal income taxes on the profits made, not the revenue made. So if Joe the plumber pulls in $400K in revenue, and after expenses ends up with only $249.9K in profit, he does not pay any extra taxes. I wish that the salaries of my wife and I combined were so much that I would have to worry about paying extra taxes, but unfortunately, they are not.
