Ranking Pixar's animated films: big success... or big bust?

Posted: 11:00 AM ET

With "Wall-E" out today, I decided to offer my personal rankings of the Pixar films:

1. "Ratatouille" – It was brilliant. A great character for kids to latch onto. And a great message for dreamers of all ages.

2. "Toy Story" – Come on! Gives props to the progenitor of the genre.

3. "Finding Nemo" – Once you get past the disturbing, Bambi-like opening where the mother dies, it’s a great adventure story with great characters

4. "Toy Story 2" – Might be better than the first, but sequels have to significantly raise the bar

5. "Incredibles" – A bit derivative of the Fantastic Four, but so what?! A great sci-fi story.

6. "Monsters, Inc." – OK, here’s where we start getting to the films that are a bit forgettable. Love the premise, and then the heartwarming way they turn those screams into laughter.

7. "A Bug’s Life" – I like the idea of ant trying to break free from the norm. Kevin Spacey makes for a good bad guy, even when it’s just his voice.

8. "Cars" – I liked it, but I just felt like they were trying to sell me toy cars the entire movie.

Pixar's films are made to provide comics relief and are very good. So sit back and enjoy them for what they are. Don't pick them apart.

CARS is the best! My son Nick, four at the time the movie came out, loves this–hands down. If you are a fan of NASCAR, ya gotta love this flick. He is such a NASCAR wiz kid,(no kidding–he knows all the drivers, sponsors, numbers, type of car and corrects me when I get stuff wrong) so I might be a little biased in my decision on Pixar movies. Not to mention, CARS is a truly great story of what really did happen to lots of little forgotten towns with great characters

On your site this morning you gave a long list of American made movies which many people will find very entertaining, It is another feature that will show the omportnt features that Ameican movies can play in modern day American society. Recently, the partners of those in combat in Iraq sent many video versions os American movies to their loved ones over in Iraq and also hpme made videos that they made to show that things ware okay at home.
In addition to this , the professianal [roduver has made many great movies which have given a great deal of satisfation to the militaru and their families which I am sure were enjoyed by all that saw them. Cingratulations to yourself and all those that sent the videos and home made movies. Frank in Sarasota.

Having lived on Route 66 for 12 years I understand the impact of Cars. There is an entire segment of America which has been abandoned for the time and convenience of Interstate travel.
Cars is a multi-generational movie.
